Photo essay: Herm Island is her paradise

Shelley Jeffrey / youthjournalism.org

YJI student Shelley Jeffrey of Scotland has a summer job on Herm Island, a place she describes as "essentially paradise." Here are some of the images she made in the first couple days there, starting with this morning's breakfast on the beach.

Herm Island is one of the islands in the English Channel. At night, it's possible to see the lights of France across the water.

Herm Island is tiny - just a mile and a half long. It takes only two hours to walk around Herm, from cliffs to beaches to harbor.
